250:1 Odds?


Glassdoor published a study last year which stated that an average posted corporate job opening attracts 250 resumes. This is not a misprint. There must be a ton of factors that go into this ridiculous statistic including: 1) this 250 average doesn’t distinguish between executive level, type or industry, 2) it consists of a plethora of ambiguous job descriptions that encourage a come one, come all response, 3) it consists of a multitude of companies that publish postings on every online job site known to man, and 4) the likelihood that the lion’s share of submitted resumes aren’t worth the powder to blow them to hell – at least for the specific posting to which they were sent.
